A bee is radioactive when there is an orange and white ☢️ symbol on the right of the bee's slot, along with green particles.
A radioactive bee.
Radiation is a mechanic that gives a temporary “radioactive” status to a bee that lasts for 11 minutes. Bees will stay radioactive regardless of any changes to their hive slots during these 11 minutes.
When a bee is radioactive, it has a higher chance of gaining a mutation when using
Bitterberries,
Royal Jellies,
Moon Charms, or
Star Jellies. It also allows the chance of a bee gaining a mutation by feeding it special treats. Certain radioactive bees can find stickers in some fields.
Bees glow green when radioactive. The brightness of the bee is based on how much longer the radioactivity will last: the brighter the bee, the longer until the radioactivity ends. A radioactive bee's hive slot will also emit green particles.
Ways of Obtaining[]
- Feeding a bee a
Neonberry will make the bee radioactive. - If a bee is mutated, it occasionally becomes radioactive. This has a chance to make surrounding bees radioactive as well.
- Global radioactivity events are initiated by Onett. At the end of Beesmas 2020, he put up a game-wide message, saying "☢️ Testing global radioactivity... ☢️", and caused many bees to become radioactive.
- Occasionally, a bee will randomly become radioactive without meeting any of the above criteria.
